Rates & Considerations

I am committed to making my services as accessible as possible. I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots and use a pay-it-forward system where clients who can pay higher fees help support those seeking gender-affirming care and other lower-cost services. If you are able to contribute at a higher rate, I encourage you to consider doing so. Your choice helps build a sustainable community where more people can access care.

Please note: Currently, I am not accepting new clients for individual 1:1 therapy or weekly couples therapy. My primary offerings at this time are Group Therapy, Therapeutic Intensives, and coaching. For detailed info on each, please visit their respective pages.

At this time, all lower-tier slots for individual therapy have been filled.

I will keep this page updated as more $180-and-under slots become available

Sliding scale fees allow me to serve a wider community while maintaining a sustainable practice. When you pay within your means, you help support others who need financial flexibility.

For more information on why I use equitable sliding scales, read here. The basic premise is also summarized well in this excerpt by Alexis J. Cunningfolk below:

“Typically, there is a limited amount of slots for products, services, and classes offered at the middle and lower end of the scale. Please be mindful that if you purchase a price at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher ticket prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility. Being honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with sliding scale practices grows strong and sustainable communities. It also respects the work of teachers and creators, like myself, you have families to support and rent to pay. Additionally, when I am paid fairly, I am able to invest more time and resources to free and lower cost offerings.”

Insurance

  • At this time I am only able to provide out-of-pocket or private pay services, which means I am considered “out-of-network” by most insurances. I accept debit, credit, and HSA/FSA cards via my secure online payment system.

Some insurances allow individuals to see out-of-network providers and may reimburse you for some or all of the cost of services. Prior to scheduling with me, please contact your insurance provider to see if you have this benefit. If so, I will provide you with what is called a “superbill” that you will submit to your insurance for reimbursement, meaning you will still be responsible for payment at the time of services.

    • Many insurance companies have a set list of diagnoses they will cover; this leaves those who do not fit into these categories without coverage

    • Insurance providers require ongoing treatment plans

      • Each insurance provider has their own templates or forms and can deny coverage if specific words or phrases are not used

      • Treatment plans must include specific and concrete goals, which can be helpful for many issues and symptoms (like reducing panic attacks) but don’t make sense for other concerns (encountering systemic racism, processing relational issues, etc.)

    • Insurance providers can limit the number of sessions available if they determine a certain issue should be solved within that time-frame

      • Clinicians are often limited to 4-10 sessions with a client regardless of their needs, or are required to routinely submit proof to the insurance that therapy would still benefit the client

    • I can work with individuals who:

      • Do not meet full criteria for a diagnosis, or who have a diagnoses not prioritized by their insurance company

      • Are seeking talk therapy for non-clinical issues, like exploration of sexuality or identity, navigation of difficult life transitions, and processing relationship dynamics

      • Would like a more tailored approach to therapy not limited by what their insurance provider deems necessary

    • I can collaborate with my clients to determine a course of treatment that most makes sense for them and if receiving a diagnosis would be beneficial

    • I can avoid tedious administrative work, increasing the amount of time and energy I have for my clients and reducing the need for outside administrative support (and costs)

  • I am committed to making my services as accessible as possible. I reserve a limited number of lower-cost slots on my caseload and am open to discussing what fee would be reasonable and sustainable for folks.

If you are able to contribute at a higher rate, I encourage you to consider doing so. Your choice helps build a sustainable community where more people can access care.
